There was an enormous change in 2012 when the existing 28 regions were reduced to eight.

Southern Region comprises ten Districts and a number of Groups.

Southern Region includes the old Regions of Casinia, South Metro, Mornington Peninsula, some of Outer Easter and Dandenong Valley.

The current Districts include: Bayside, Cardinia, Casey, Greater Dandenong, Frankston, Glen Eira, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip and Stonnington.
